Goblin Modular Pipe Kit — Stylized Fantasy Prop Pack
A modular pipe kit built from a set of interchangeable segments — straight pipes, bends, joints, valves, and end caps — designed to snap together into custom industrial layouts for fantasy environment art.
The Brief
The goal was to build a richly detailed industrial prop with a worn, weathered surface and small functional details — valves, gauges, glowing panels — while keeping the whole kit lightweight enough for real-time use in Unreal Engine.
Modeled in Blender as a set of self-contained modules — straight sections, bends, a T-joint, a valve, and end caps — each built to snap together cleanly into custom pipe layouts.
Texturing
Texturing was done in Substance Painter, layering rust, verdigris, and grime over a metal base to sell a sense of age and wear. Small functional details — warning stripes, rivets, worn edges — were placed by hand to guide the eye across the surface.
Emissive Details
Status panels along the pipes were given a dedicated emissive map, letting the glowing strips read clearly even in dark environments — a small detail that adds a sense of the pipes being active and alive.
Texture Maps
A full breakdown of the texture set — BaseColor, RAM, Normal, and Emissive — keeping metal and grime information cleanly separated for accurate shading under any lighting setup.
Material Variants
The kit includes four distinct material finishes:
Copper — clean, unweathered copper surface
Copper with Patina — copper aged with a green oxidized patina
Grey-Blue Steel — cool-toned steel finish
Weathered Paint — chipped paint with rust showing through underneath
Final Render
Final presentation was rendered in Unreal Engine 5, with lighting chosen to bring out the surface detail and emissive glow of the status panels against a neutral studio background.
Result
