Curio AI — An Animated Learning Companion

Curio AI is an interactive learning companion designed for children ages 4–7. Curio lives alongside the child, helping with schoolwork, sharing science stories, encouraging healthy routines, and turning learning into playful conversations.

Design an AI experience that feels friendly, expressive, and easy for young children to understand without making the product feel overly childish.

I created Curio as an animated scientist-maker with three responsive states:

Idle and talking — natural conversational presence

Listening — attentive, responsive body language

Thinking — visible processing that keeps the child engaged

The Rive character uses real-time visemes for synchronized speech and natural facial animation. The interface adapts across desktop, iPhone, and Pixel layouts while preserving Curio's proportions.
