The Fish Carousel: Interactive Motion Design Experiment

Asim Das

The Fish Carousel – My First Rive Experiment

The Fish Carousel was one of my very first attempts with Rive — a simple, playful loop that taught me how much fun motion design can be when it’s interactive.
The Idea I wanted to see if I could bring a sense of calm and play to the screen. So I created a tiny carousel of fish, endlessly swimming in a smooth loop — like a digital aquarium you can just watch and smile.
How I Made It
Illustration & Rigging – I drew simple fish shapes and used Rive’s bones and constraints to make them swim naturally.
Looping Animation – I focused on getting a seamless loop that feels satisfying and alive.
A Learning Step – This was my playground for learning bones, constraints, and timeline tricks in Rive.
Why I Keep It Sometimes a small project is where you learn the most. The Fish Carousel reminds me how a simple idea, made with care, can add life to an interface — and how much more there is to explore with motion.

The Fish Carousel is one of my first deep dives into Rive — a playful loop where a tiny fish swims in endless circles, shifting smoothly between states!
