Le Chef: Culinary App Design

Le Chef is a mobile app designed to help users discover global cuisine, explore recipes, and find top-rated restaurants by category and country. My task was to design a fresh, engaging interface that combines functionality with a sense of warmth and appetite appeal. The result is a visually rich experience that encourages culinary exploration through intuitive navigation, bright color accents, and clean UI elements.

Discovery Wheel Each one was crafted to balance information density with ease of use, especially on mobile.

Step 1: Visual Direction & Branding The app needed to feel lively and energetic, so I built the visual identity around warm oranges and clean whites to evoke feelings of appetite, comfort, and curiosity. Rounded containers, friendly typography, and intuitive layouts were used to support the playful yet structured tone.

Home & Search: Designed a visual search approach with food categories and large product tiles.

Spin the Wheel: A fun interaction where users get randomized food types or restaurants.

Restaurant Finder: Focused on easy filtering by country, with clean cards showcasing top venues.

Favorites & Recipes: Cards with high-quality imagery, brief previews, and accessible actions.

Created a component library in Figma for UI consistency

Designed modular layouts for easy scalability (e.g., adding more food regions or quiz types)

Le Chef was all about turning food discovery into an experience, not just a database. The bright color palette, fun interactive touches, and clean structure help make it appealing for both casual users and foodies. It’s a great example of how UI can be playful and practical at the same time.
