Introduction

Framer templates often look like a quick and easy solution—until you actually try to modify them.
That’s exactly what happened to Joshua Rhodes, who purchased "Kim", one of the most popular Framer templates, expecting a seamless experience. Turns out, it wasn’t as plug-and-play as he thought. The structure was complex, making it difficult for him to add new projects or modify the existing design without deep Framer knowledge.
Realizing that what seemed like a shortcut was now slowing him down, Joshua reached out to an expert (me) to restructure the template and make it actually usable.

The Fix // Making “Kim” Work for Joshua

1. Template Restructuring & Cleanup
Reworked the entire template structure, ensuring a logical layout for better scalability and future modifications.
Optimized project sections so Joshua could easily add, remove, or edit projects without breaking the design.
Eliminated unnecessary complexities, making the template more intuitive for someone who isn’t a Framer expert.
2. Implementing Framer's CMS for Efficiency
Introduced Framer’s latest CMS functionality, allowing Joshua to add unlimited images to his projects without manually linking each image field.
This saved time, reduced friction, and made managing content way smoother.
3. Training & Knowledge Transfer
Provided one-on-one guidance, teaching Joshua how to navigate and modify the template confidently.
Explained Framer’s best practices, so he could maintain and scale his site independently.

Lessons from This Project // Why Templates Aren’t Always Simple

🚨 Framer templates look user-friendly—but many aren't structured for easy modification. 🚨 Business owners & creatives buy them assuming they can edit freely, only to realize they need expert help. 🚨 Without proper setup, templates can become more of a headache than a solution.
By stepping in, I transformed a rigid template into a flexible, scalable system that Joshua could actually use, saving him time, effort, and frustration in the long run.

Conclusion

Templates are great—but only when they’re structured properly. Joshua’s experience with “Kim” is a common case of template expectations vs. reality. Now, his site is structured, flexible, and finally works the way he intended—without the unnecessary struggles.
If there’s one takeaway here: Framer templates don’t replace expertise—but they can be powerful when built right.
