About the Project:

The project was to build software that can learn, model, and simulate systems in any scientific domain.

Deliverables:

Software that creates accurate and computationally-tractable models that span a range of lengthscales and timescales in engineering design, climatology, and biology.

A method to inform researchers which experiments to perform for a given budget.

A scientifically-precise quantification of risk that can be used to improve both cost and safety.

Our Process:

I tried something new with this project. Instead of using a hierarchy to organize the team, I organized the team using the ring structure shown below. Combined with an agile approach, this works incredibly well. I’ll certainly be using this method again in the future.

Results:

As a result of this work, NASA will be able to save millions of dollars on complex projects in the future.
