Project information
Developed within the Visual Design course in partnership with Alzheimer Portugal, this project involved creating a visual identity system for Casa do Alecrim—a residential facility dedicated to the specialized care of people living with dementia.
The challenge lay in translating values such as care, empathy, dignity, and a welcoming atmosphere into a visual language that is coherent, contemporary, and human-centric. The brand symbol draws inspiration from the building's unique architecture, reinterpreted through a balanced, geometric approach. The central sphere represents the individual and the community, while the surrounding structure evokes the shape of a brain—alluding to memory and consciousness—and the internal lines suggest the branches of the rosemary plant (associated with remembrance), thereby establishing a direct link to the institution's mission.
The project culminates in a comprehensive graphic standards manual covering logo construction, typography, color palette, and applications across stationery, signage, the building façade, social media, the website, apparel, and other media, ensuring coherence and consistency across all brand touchpoints.
