I designed a secure peer-to-peer marketplace that makes buying and selling simple, safe, and trustworthy. The goal was to reduce fraud and scams while delivering a smooth, enjoyable user experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
The Challenge
Marketplaces often lose users because of fraud, unclear processes, and lack of trust. My mission was to build confidence into every interaction while keeping the platform easy for anyone to use.
Research & Insights
User Interviews with buyers and sellers revealed top fears: scams, fake listings, and payment disputes.
Key Insight: A secure payment method plus transparent communication would directly boost confidence.
Design Goals
Trust First- Reduce fraud risk through secure escrow transactions.
Clarity in Flows- Simple steps for listing, browsing, and purchasing.
Seamless Across Devices- Desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts optimized for quick access.
Easy Handoff to Development- Clear Figma organization and documentation.
Home Page
The home page was designed to feel open and welcoming, with quick access to search, categories, and recent listings.
Listings Page
Listings are clean, image forward, and easy to scan. Filters and categories help users quickly find relevant products. Each listing displays a short title, price, and verification badge.
Product Description
Detailed item view includes images, seller ratings, location, and clear purchase options. Escrow process explanation is displayed beside the “Pay with Escrow” button to reassure users before committing.
Escrow Payment Flow
Buyer pays into escrow.
Seller is notified to ship item.
Buyer confirms delivery before funds are released.
This process reduces fraud and scams -80% of test participants said it made them feel safer.
Buyer Account
Dashboard to track orders, escrow status, messages, and past purchases. Clear progress indicators show where each transaction is in the process.
Seller Account
Simple tools for creating listings, tracking orders, managing payments, and communicating with buyers. Escrow status updates ensure sellers know when funds are ready to release.
Developer Handoff
I organized the Figma file with variables for colors, typography, and spacing, plus a style guide for components and states. Added sticky notes to explain interactions and edge cases, and kept frames and layers neatly named for easy navigation. This clear setup let developers move from design to build without delays.
Final Note
Thanks for taking a look at this project. I focused on creating a marketplace experience where people feel secure from the first click to the final payment. If you’re building a product where trust is non-negotiable, I’m ready to help design it right.
