Flashback to 2022: I was interviewing for a studio and got hit with a 72-hour design challenge. They handed me a character design and the prompt “Walk with Style,” so instead of keeping things safe, I decided to take the character on a lightning-fast visual tour. In just 15 seconds, I crammed in abstracted, geometric slices of New York’s Times Square, a classic Hong Kong street corner, a quiet Japanese suburb, and a kinetic nod to the Beatles' Abbey Road crosswalk. My animation technique back then was definitely a bit immature compared to my workflow today, but it was a frantic, passionate exercise in survival keyframing under absolute deadline pressure.
