📍 Overview

SkillConnect is a skill-sharing platform where users can either teach or learn skills. The platform allows flexible exchange: users can offer their skills for free, charge a fee, or use a barter system to trade knowledge.

🎯 Goal

To build a simple, community-powered platform that makes skill-sharing accessible and flexible in their community, empowering people to teach, learn, and grow based on their interests and values.

🚧 Challenges

• No existing local platforms made it easy to share skills in multiple ways (free, paid, or barter).

• Users needed clarity on how to offer or request a skill.

• The flow for creating a listing or applying for one needed to be simple and intuitive.

✅ Solutions

• Designed a clear and minimal interface using Figma with easy navigation for both learners and teachers.

• Categorized skills into groups like Tech, Creative, Personal, and Business etc

• Developed the platform on WordPress with custom post types for listings and user profiles.

• Integrated filter and tagging systems for skill type (free/paid/barter).

• Made onboarding and posting flow as smooth as possible, even for first-time users.

• Ensured mobile responsiveness and fast load time.
