Dialogue

Jarrod Zimmerman

Dialogue is a social audio network for theater, dance, opera and music. With Dialogue, theatergoers can connect before and after the show to listen, learn, and discuss the work and the topics that matter most, while theatermakers have a free tool for audience development to increase engagement, grow their base, support their mission, and earn money for their work. As founder of this project, my role consisted of a combination of responsibilities including UX Research, Product Design (UX + UI), and Front-End Development (React).
This social audio network included regional landing pages to feature the most engaging events, event information, conversation management (inviting, granting speaking and listening permissions, blocking, etc.), conversation recording and listening controls, user profiles, organization profiles, organization member management, search, activity log, playlist management, Stripe Checkout integration, and Stripe Connect integration for organization payouts based on user listening time.
Aside from competitive research into entertainment industry engagement platforms, I conducted interviews with artistic directors, directors of marketing and engagement, artists, and theatergoers. The goal was to find a tool for audiences to come together in conversation, guided by artists, theater producers, and creators.
