I wanted to capture that feeling every surfer knows - the hunt for the perfect wave. The hero image is this incredible shot of a surfer in the barrel because that's what everyone using this app is chasing. I kept the interface clean and minimal so the focus stays on that stunning wave photography, but made sure all the essential search tools are right there when you need them.
What I Built
Intuitive Wave Search: The main search interface breaks down exactly how surfers actually think about planning sessions - when do you want to go, what's your skill level, and where are you willing to travel. No complicated menus or hidden filters.
AI That Actually Gets Surfing: Instead of just throwing around the "AI-powered" buzzword, I positioned it as a tool that understands surf culture. It's not just about wave height and wind direction - it's about finding waves that match your vibe and ability.
Visual-First Experience: Surfers are visual people. The whole design lets the ocean imagery do the talking while keeping the functional elements subtle but accessible. The glassmorphism effects on the search panel feel like looking through water.
Streamlined User Flow: Everything leads to that blue "Search" button. Whether you're a beginner looking for mellow waves or an expert chasing barrels, the path to finding your session is dead simple.
The goal was to make WaveFinder feel like it was built by surfers, for surfers - not just another generic travel app trying to crack the surf market.
