PURPOSE: A mobile application created to help users understand their physiological needs

TIMELINE: Oct. 2023 to Feb. 2024

PROJECT OVERVIEW

InBalance is a FemTech application created for women seeking personalized support in discovering a diet tailored to their individual needs. By identifying their somatotype, users gain insights into their basic requirements by understanding their natural body composition.

MY CONTRIBUTIONS

I was the only designer on this project, so *everything you see I created. I was involved with defining the brand, personas, creating the flows and wireframes, site maps, information architecture, and finally the UI design.

METHODS

HOW IT WORKS

A mobile application created to help users identify and understand their natural body composition, or somatotype: Ectomorph, Mesomorph, and Endomorph.

By knowing their

Somatotype

, users gain a baseline understanding of what they can do to support their bodies and work towards achieving a balanced lifestyle.

In the realm of dietary choices tailored to individual needs and body types, navigating food sensitivities and allergies becomes increasingly challenging with age or hormonal changes, particularly for women. Addressing this issue is crucial as it directly impacts overall well-being, influencing factors such as: disease prevention, immune function, recovery time, and longevity. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, prioritizing well-being not only enhances health outcomes but also boosts productivity at work and fosters community contribution.

The initial approach to the product/application, HealthSync, was to create a mobile health app that acted as a repository for users’ medical records and health stats. This idea was later revised to focus on hormonal imbalances within women, and renamed to InBalance.

Furthermore, through research, surveys, and one-on-one interviews, it became evident that women faced significant challenges in managing their weight, particularly as they age or undergo hormonal changes.

Recognizing the primary user demographic as women, I adjusted the brand messaging to directly address the female end-user and emphasize the specific health needs related to hormonal imbalances.
