This project focused on a complete technical SEO audit for a mid-sized website that was struggling with indexing and visibility issues. I identified key crawl errors, broken internal links, sitemap problems, and misconfigured robots.txt rules. By addressing these technical barriers, I helped the site regain indexability and improve its presence in search results. The work created a stable foundation for long-term search growth.
Process
I began by crawling the site with Screaming Frog to uncover redirect loops, broken links, crawl depth issues, and internal linking gaps. In parallel, I used Semrush to run a site audit and identify additional problems related to site health, indexability, and structural weaknesses.
I then used Google Search Console to validate indexing status, review excluded URLs, and check for meta directive and canonical tag issues.
Once the main technical errors were documented, I prioritized them based on effort and impact. Robots.txt and sitemap files were cleaned up, canonical tags were corrected, and internal links were optimized to reduce orphan pages and improve crawl flow. Throughout the process, I monitored progress using both crawl reports and live indexing data to measure impact.
Improvements
Increased site health score from 68 percent to 92
Fixed 120+ broken internal links and 35 redirect chains
Reduced non-indexed pages by 47 percent
Improved crawl depth and connected orphan pages
Results
Within six weeks:
Indexed pages grew by more than 30 percent
More pages started ranking for relevant long-tail keywords
Organic impressions increased by 22 percent
Crawl efficiency improved and technical errors dropped significantly
