At Stellantis, one of the world's leading automotive manufacturers, I served as Product Manager for the user experience of software updates across connected vehicles. My focus was creating seamless, intuitive experiences for Over-The-Air (OTA) updates across three platforms: in-vehicle systems, mobile applications, and web portals.
Through Stellantis' strategic partnership with Amazon, I benefited from AWS Product training, learning their culture of innovation and the PRFAQ methodology, bringing best-in-class product practices to the automotive industry.
Role & Responsibilities:
UX Strategy & Product Vision Developed product vision and roadmap for software update experiences across all touchpoints, ensuring consistency and user satisfaction for upcoming vehicle models.
User Research & Discovery Conducted user research and evaluated customer journeys with UX experts, translating insights into actionable product requirements and interface improvements.
Cross-Platform Design Coordination Collaborated with UX/UI designers and channel teams to create cohesive user interfaces across in-vehicle screens, mobile app, and web portal, ensuring a seamless multi-platform experience.
Product Requirements & Documentation Authored PRFAQs and maintained detailed Portfolio Backlog, guiding development teams with clear, user-centered specifications.
Key Achievements:
Multi-Platform UX Leadership Successfully defined and coordinated user experience across three platforms (in-vehicle, mobile, web), enhancing user satisfaction and interface consistency for new vehicle models.
User-Centered Design Process Established collaborative product discovery with UX experts, ensuring software updates were designed around real user needs rather than technical constraints.
Product Innovation Culture Brought Amazon's PRFAQ methodology to Stellantis through AWS partnership training, modernizing product development practices.
Challenges:
Multi-Platform Consistency Creating a cohesive update experience across in-vehicle systems, mobile app, and web portal, each with different technical constraints and user contexts, required careful UX strategy and constant coordination.
Emerging Technology in Automotive OTA updates were relatively new in the automotive space, requiring stakeholder education, navigation of technical unknowns, and balancing innovation with reliability for safety-critical vehicle systems.
Cross-Functional Alignment Coordinating product vision across engineering, design, and business teams, each with different priorities and timelines, required strong communication and consensus-building.
