BotMother

By 2018 almost every WeDo client wanted a messenger bot: real-estate developers, a language school, an insurer, media NGOs, a theatre, a crypto exchange. Underneath, each bot needed the same plumbing — webhooks for several messengers, menus, user state, translations, broadcasts and an admin for content — yet each one was being started from scratch. The agency needed a shared foundation that a small team could reuse and maintain consistently.

I turned the common parts into a platform on top of Viper, my own lightweight PHP framework. BotMother adds adapters for Messenger, Telegram and Viber, a dialog and route model, message templates, YAML string files per language, persistent user state, broadcasts and a daemon for long-polling and scheduled jobs. Every bot ships with a Laravel Voyager admin for content, users and broadcasts, and a Docker Compose stack with PHP, MySQL, nginx with Certbot and WebSockets, routed by an nginx-proxy configured from YAML.
