The Rusty Ears is a fictional garage rock band. The goal was to craft a bold, raw visual universe that matches their gritty sound and DIY spirit. Inspired by lo-fi photography, torn textures, and vintage rock posters, I designed a cohesive identity around a central theme: nostalgia with noise.
Problem solved
The challenge was to create a strong, recognizable aesthetic that speaks to underground rock audiences. The visuals had to feel authentic, imperfect, and analog — just like the music. It was about rejecting polish and embracing texture.
My role
I created the band’s visual identity and a set of promotional assets: cover art, posters, and merch visuals. I also defined a visual language based on a limited color palette, expressive type, and layering techniques. The goal was consistency without losing raw energy.
Result
A gritty, memorable design system that feels true to the genre and opens doors for future content (tours, vinyls, social posts). The project highlights my ability to adapt to niche subcultures and translate sound into visuals.
