Overview
The family-owned Prospectors' Inn, located in Kirkland Lake, needed a new website to align with their target audience and business goals. The focus was on improving user experience, increasing PageSpeed scores for better SEO, and expanding site content to address diverse guest needs, from long-term stays for miners to snowmobile and outdoor adventure trips.
Challenges
The previous website lacked clarity, speed, and targeted content. The inn wanted to better connect with guests who might stay for extended periods while working at local mining sites, as well as attract outdoor enthusiasts looking for a comfortable base. The site needed to reflect the outdoorsy, rustic charm of the area while providing a fast and smooth experience on both desktop and mobile devices.
Solution
We redesigned the Prospectors' Inn website with a clear focus on user experience and SEO.
Improved PageSpeed
Optimization efforts brought PageSpeed scores to ~100, enhancing overall SEO and providing a faster experience for users.
New Pages Added
We introduced dedicated pages for Long-Term Rentals and Trail Central, which provide detailed information for those looking to stay for work purposes or to explore local trails by snowmobile or ATV.
Messaging Tailored to Miners
With miners as a core guest group, we ensured the copy on the site spoke directly to their needs—highlighting features like large suites and ample parking for trailers.
Rustic Design Feel
Design elements and font choices were selected to convey an outdoorsy and rustic atmosphere, mirroring the inn's surrounding environment and appealing to its adventurous clientele.
Process
Sitemap
We began by creating a detailed sitemap to organize the content effectively. This helped ensure that all important information, such as amenities, rental options, and local activities, was easy to find for users.
Wireframe
Next, we developed wireframes to establish the structure of each page. These wireframes served as the blueprint for the entire user experience, outlining both layout and content flow.
Design
With the wireframes in place, we moved on to the design phase. The goal was to create an inviting and rustic aesthetic that resonated with the inn's target audience. We used warm colors, nature-inspired visuals, and rustic typography to capture the adventurous spirit of Kirkland Lake.
Development
Once the design was approved, we began the development process. The site was built with Webflow and speed optimized through Cloudflare. We focused on building a responsive, high-performance website that was optimized for speed and SEO, ensuring a seamless experience across all devices.
Outcome
The new Prospectors' Inn website effectively showcases the inn's unique offerings and appeal to key target groups. Enhanced SEO efforts are aimed at improving search rankings, making it easier for guests to discover the inn online. The inclusion of new content, paired with a faster, more intuitive user experience, has created a site that not only looks good but also delivers on performance and relevance.
