Kahwei Yoong
The goals were to develop a communicative English language curriculum for Thai adults and design language learning assessments to evaluate product efficacy.
Process
To start, I mapped out the entire curriculum for 7 different courses of varying language levels with consultation from language learning experts. As we needed to create 252 individual lesson plans, I trained and managed a team of curriculum writers to develop lesson plans according to our pedagogical framework.
To understand the product’s learning impact, I designed language learning assessments with consultation from language learning experts. I tested the assessment frameworks by conducting all the assessments for our students.
I also taught classes to test the product efficacy and conducted user experience research with learners to iterate on their learning experience.
Deliverables
A full curriculum with detailed lesson plans targeting listening and speaking skills.
A complete language learning assessment framework.

What our users said
At first, I felt no sense of progress but one day, while practicing with myself, I realised that I’ve made progress. I felt more fluent - I did not need to think much about word choices and there were smaller gaps in my listening comprehension. Also, I felt more confident. After feeling this improvement in speaking English, I felt more motivated to learn.
I felt more confident to speak English and work in English. Six months ago, I had felt awkward or anxious to talk to foreigners but now, I feel more comfortable and confident. Speaking English feels "more normal.”
