Brasserie du Primerose: Cross-Cultural Identity for a Brussels Landmark

Project Snapshot

Client: Brasserie du Primerose
Location: Brussels (near the Atomium)
Industry: Hospitality / Casual Dining
My Role: Brand Identity & Menu Design
Services: Visual Identity System, Menu Engineering, Environmental Signage, Print Collateral
Tools: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop

1. The Challenge: Unifying Two Cuisines

Located just steps from the iconic Atomium, Brasserie du Primerose faced a unique communication challenge: they serve a rare hybrid of Belgian Classics and Greek Specialties.
The previous customer experience risked confusion—diners didn't know if they should expect a carbonade or a moussaka. The restaurant needed a visual identity that harmonized these two distinct culinary worlds while signaling its status as a welcoming, high-traffic tourist destination.

2. The Strategy & Solution

I developed a "Modern Brasserie" aesthetic that feels established yet accessible.
Menu Engineering & Hierarchy: To solve the "choice paralysis," I designed a structured menu grid that visually separates the Belgian Classics from the Greek Specialties. Using clear typography and logical categorization, we guided the customer's journey from local staples to Mediterranean favorites without friction.
Location-Based Branding: I created a custom background pattern featuring line-art illustrations of the Atomium. This reinforces the restaurant's prime location and appeals directly to the tourist foot traffic in the area.
Warm & Earthy Palette: We utilized a rich chocolate brown and creamy beige color scheme. This warmth bridges the gap between the cozy comfort of a Belgian cafe and the sun-soaked vibe of Greek dining.

3. The Outcome

The new identity successfully elevated the venue from a "lunch stop" to a branded destination.
Increased Visibility: The large-format exterior signage (A-boards and wall menus) acts as a magnet for passing tourists, clearly displaying the food variety before they even step inside.
Cohesive Experience: From the business cards to the table menus, every touchpoint now tells a consistent story of quality and tradition.
Operational Efficiency: The redesigned menu layout reduced ordering time by making options easier to navigate during peak lunch rushes.
