Comprehensive IT & Data Management Support for Clinical Trial Start-Up

Project Overview

As one of the first IT team members in a fast-growing start-up focused on clinical trial data management, I led the technical groundwork to support their operations and rapid growth. Over 18 months, I collaborated closely with their team, evolving from a cyber security auditor to a trusted advisor on infrastructure, automation, and compliance.

Key Deliverables

1. Cybersecurity & Compliance

- Conducted initial cybersecurity audits and developed SOPs to meet DAIDS, FDA, and HIPAA compliance standards.

- Configured Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and arranged third-party vulnerability testing to enhance security.

2. Data Management & Automation

- Built an ETL framework for SQL Server on Azure, including a user reconciliation system to automate account management in Power BI.

- Created Power Automate workflows to populate SharePoint lists, leveraging SQL and user inputs for streamlined data management.

3. Infrastructure Setup & Device Management

- Configured Microsoft 365 and implemented Intune and Autopilot policies for secure device management.

- Integrated Apple Business Manager with Intune for seamless Mac management.

- Established an Azure Virtual Desktop environment to secure developer operations.

4. Process & System Enhancements

- Implemented ETL deployment with Azure Data Factory and Terraform for scalable data handling.

- Built custom Azure AD authentication for Power BI and secured client-facing Power BI applications.

- Provided ongoing training to upskill an intern, reducing dependency on me for support.

5. Vendor Collaboration & IT Support

- Oversaw IT procurement, office networking issues, and website migrations in collaboration with developers and vendors.

- Regular touchpoints ensured continuous alignment with stakeholders and supported the client’s rapid scaling.
