Overview

The company focuses on utilizing an AI-powered matchmaking system to effectively rank and display relevant profiles for HR professionals on the real estate market.

The Goal

Transition from MVP to successful robust, scalable enterprise platform handling complex HR processes within a tight six-month runway.
Timeline: 6 months | Role: Sole Product Designer

Technical Approach

Starting from a clear goal, I moved quickly by expanding the foundational design system, defining critical features based on user flows, and maturing the AI matchmaking.

Foundational Design System

The company already had an MVP and a basic UI library, which allowed me to prototype in high fidelity from day one. I led the maturation of the visual language and component library, expanding from the existing foundation. Owned Style Guide, Login/Register flows, Org Profile, Talent Profile, Jobs Dashboard, Notifications, and Error handling.

Critical Feature Design & Flows

I identified priority user flows and related features to fill the enterprise gap. Translated complex AI logic into clear interfaces for the Matchmaking System and designed the enterprise dashboard for Chat, Matches, Talent actions, and Screening features.

Expanded UI Library

Expanded Ant Design-based UI while maintaining cohesion. Conducted stakeholder interviews, benchmarked HR tech platforms, and ensured efficient cross-functional collaboration.

Scaling Intelligence and Governance

Enterprise Feature Gap

Identified priority user flows and related features to fill the enterprise gap, developing a robust AI-powered matchmaking system that ranks and displays relevant talent profiles for HR professionals.

Maturing AI Matchmaking

Worked closely with engineers to identify the best ways to use AI in matchmaking, using simple patterns to avoid bias and confusion. Designed comprehensive dashboard features—Chat, Notifications, Onboarding, Meeting Setup, and Vetting—to meet B2B client needs.

Design Debt & Speed

Starting from an MVP with a basic UI library, I was able to prototype in high fidelity from day one—just needing to expand the existing Ant Design components while rapidly refining the UI and Style Guide.

Achieved critical business milestone, positioning company for seed funding ($2-3M) due to improved product clarity and design maturity.

Key Learnings

Balancing visuals with engineering constraints: Working within the constraints of a pre-existing component library while pushing for visual and functional consistency was a balancing act.
Collabote Early: Collaborating with developers early in the design phase enabled better alignment on AI integration and data presentation.
Navigating Ethical AI in HR Tech: Introducing AI in HR demanded rigorous attention to ethical design, data governance, and compliance. We focused on building transparent algorithms to mitigate bias and prioritize trust over pure technical features.
