BitGo: Blockchain Education for Kids, Globally!

Shalom Ohuegbe

Background
With the inception of blockchain in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto, the industry has continued to bloom and develop hence, the need for extensive education on its processes and use cases. BitGo aims to educate kids, particularly, kids between the age of 8-12 about Bitcoin and financial education—in general.
Product Overview
BitGo is an e-learning platform that provides kids with opportunities to gain financial education. This product allows parents & guardians around the world to teach their kids the basics of blockchain technology and exposes them to financial discipline early on. It has a mobile and a web interface. The mobile product is the core application used for kids & guardians, while the web interface is a supporting interface for the flexibility of devices and dashboard tracking.
“Think Duolingo but for blockchain education”
I led the UX research for the product and was tasked with ensuring the product was very functional and friendly. The key goal was to make BitGo engaging and useful. We streamlined the onboarding process and built features across its mobile and web products while directing user research efforts to drive demand and new customer acquisition.
The challenge with blockchain education when it comes to kids
Creating BitGo, an e-learning platform for kids' financial education, comes with several anticipated challenges. First, simplifying complex concepts like cryptocurrencies and blockchain for children requires clear and engaging explanations. Developing engaging content that educates while keeping kids interested poses another challenge. Additionally- ensuring seamless functionality across mobile and web interfaces, accommodating different devices and screen sizes, demands careful planning and testing. Upholding security and privacy standards, especially given the sensitive nature of financial education, is crucial. Balancing simplicity with functionality in the platform's design and features is also essential. Furthermore, implementing effective parental involvement and controls to ensure safety and facilitate communication adds complexity. Compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly regarding financial education and data protection, presents legal hurdles. Lastly, sustaining user engagement over time necessitates strategies like gamification and interactive elements. Successfully addressing these challenges will be pivotal to BitGo's effectiveness in providing valuable financial education for children worldwide. To solve this problem my goals were to give BitGo the following: "So what's the best way to teach kids about Bitcoin?" 1. Interactive Learning Modules: Create engaging modules with animations and quizzes to simplify complex concepts. 2. User-Centric Design Iterations: Gather feedback from users to improve navigation and visuals. 3. Comprehensive Parental Controls: Develop features for monitoring progress and setting usage limits.
Testing, Testing
