Art.me is an app for searching and learning more about artworks in various museum around the world.
With Art.me, art students and simple enthusiasts can discover more about the world of art from the comfort of their home or through an immersive experience inside the museums, scanning the artworks and having the opportunity to discover details, history and curiosities!
The problem
People are curious about the paintings when they go to the museum. They don't want to waste time looking for explanations on the internet, or they don't buy the audio guide. They are looking for an app to help them make the most of their visit to the museum!
The goal
Art.me helps people to learn more about the paintings while visiting their favorite museum, through AR scan or search and different features such as text, audio and commentary explanations from the community.
Responsibilities
User Researching, competitive audits, wireframing, prototyping, design, testing
User research: pain points
Not all museums have their own apps, and some of those who do have old apps, with ugly UI and not very functional when visiting the museum.
People who visit museums often forget to buy the audio guide or don't want to have this item on. In addition, they do not read the descriptions of the paintings because there is too much crowd in the most famous paintings and they cannot be read.
Often those who visit the museum do not know how to move, they go a little randomly between the various exhibitions. Often you are looking for a painting and if you can't find it you have to take a map and find your way around with it.
People want a product that is fun and easy to browse, not boring or too professional.
Paper Wireframes
In these wireframes I tried to represent the first phases of the project, with the main features: registration, museum selection, museum details, scan artwork, artwork detail, search for artwork in the map and artwork details.
Digital Wireframes
The dashboard of the app shows the most important features: it shows us the artwork or museum highlight of the day, a collection of artworks inspired by those already seen in the past and a list of museums to select.
When we scan or search for an artwork we end up on its details page. Here you can read the history of the painting, listen to the audio guide, see the details up close and look for it on a map inside the museum in which we are located.
Prototype and usability studies
After preparing the wireframe prototype and submitting it to several users for usability studies, these are the data I collected:
After the usability studies I made corrections to my mockups, also adding all the UI elements such as brand colors, images and various details.
I inserted all the changes that emerged during testing, improving the usability of the homepage, the scanning section, the map section and all the main functions.
Subsequently, I prototyped this new version of the product and prepared everything for a second usability test phase.
