Currency Exchange Limit Order in PUMB－Banking App

PUMB is one of Ukraine’s leading fintech companies, providing mobile banking solutions for retail clients. The project aimed to enhance the existing currency exchange functionality by introducing a new automatic currency exchange feature, similar to a limit order mechanism on crypto or stock exchanges.

As a Product Designer, I was responsible for the full UX/UI design process: from user flow mapping and prototyping to high-fidelity interface design and developer handoff. I collaborated closely with product managers, business analysts, and the development team.

The main goal was to allow users to set a desired exchange rate for buying or selling foreign currency. Once the market rate matches the user’s specified rate, the exchange would be executed automatically.

Designing an intuitive user flow for setting up auto-exchange orders.

Educating users on how this feature works without overwhelming them with complex trading terminology.

Integrating the new functionality seamlessly into the existing mobile app structure.

PUMB became the first bank in Ukraine to introduce an automated currency exchange feature for retail clients. The launch delivered significant business outcomes:

Increased commission revenue from currency exchange operations.

Growth in the number of unique active users.

Attracted new clients who previously used alternative services for such functionality.

Users can create a currency exchange request at their desired rate by selecting the currency (USD or EUR), exchange type (purchase or sell), and setting a target rate. Additionally, they can view rate dynamics, track order history, access related information about how it works.

Users enter the desired exchange amount and optionally select a specific card or account for the transaction.

The user reviews the summary, selects the request validity period, and confirms the exchange request. A success screen is shown upon completion.

Users can view requests history, monitor statuses, and view detailed information for each request.

If the exchange rate reaches the user’s specified level within the selected period, the currency exchange is executed automatically. The user receives a push notification confirming the successful transaction.
