The purpose of the project is to create an app that’ll connect people while they travel on solo trips. Also, to enable solo travelers to have a local experience as well as maximize their travel experience, and how they interact with people while ensuring safety.
User research was conducted to uncover information regarding the participant’s behavior and preferences. For this goal, a user interview script was designed.  Six respondents were interviewed for the purpose of the project so as to empathize and understand them as users.

User Interview Questions

Hello, I’m a designer working at entry-level on app development. I was hoping to learn more about your thoughts and opinions on solo traveling. I’m going to ask you some questions about how you interact with others while on sole trips. How does that sound? Do you have any questions before we start?
One more thing, before we start, do you mind if I record this session? I assure you that this will only be shared internally with my team.
1)     What do you do for a living?
2)     Do you often go on solo trips?
3)     How many times a year do you go on solo trips?
4)     Where do you stay while on solo trips?
5)     What’s the hardest thing about solo traveling?
6)     How do you recognize others like you who are also on solo trips at the same place?
7)     If there’s a platform where you would meet others, what will be your thought about it?
8)     What feature will you want to add to the app if you have the chance to?
Thank you for your time. If you have any questions, remarks, or reviews, I would love to hear them.

Affinity Mapping

The affinity mapping was designed based on the user interview and feedback from users. It was developed into insights that helped categorize the similarities and differences in what users want.

User Persona

The user Persona represents the behavioral pattern of the users and this has helped to understand the flow of the user’s life and how the interface can fit into that. It identified the goals, and frustration of the users.

Problem Statement

A problem statement is the focal point of the rest of our project. It’s the goal we strive for when conducting the rest of our design thinking process. It’s what we ideate around, what we design a solution towards, and what we reference as we deliver our project.
1.      Asa travel blogger, Monalisa wants to know more about places so that she can select the safest places to visit.
2.      As a solo traveler, Monalisa wants to meet other solo travelers so that she can share experiences and memories
3.      As a solo traveler, Monalisa wants to review places so that other solo travelers will have an idea of the place.
4.      As a solo traveler, Monalisa wants to share my location with close friends so that I can feel safe.
5.      As a solo traveler, Monalisa need to know about other solo travelers, before getting linked to them.

Lightning Demo

The lightning Demo was an exercise to help provide a rapid overview of similar concepts that are relevant to the purpose, objective, and goals of the process. A similar, list of apps was compiled based on their interfaces and the function they perform.

Brainstorming Ideas

As the design problem has been clearly defined, this was used to generate ideas on how to solve this problem.

In conclusion, the design of an app that connects solo travelers was successfully completed, with user interviews being a crucial aspect of the project. Through conducting extensive user interviews, we were able to gather valuable insights into the needs, preferences, and pain points of our target audience, which informed the design of the app's features and user interface. The feedback and input received from users were invaluable in guiding the development of the app and ensuring that it meets the needs and expectations of its intended audience.
Overall, the design of this app has the potential to provide a valuable service to solo travelers, enabling them to connect with like-minded individuals and fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. With a focus on user-centered design and a deep understanding of the needs and preferences of our target audience, we believe that this app has the potential to be a valuable addition to the travel industry.
