BURULI ULCER AWARENESS

Buruli ulcer, also known as Bairnsdale ulcer or Buruli disease, is a rare skin disease caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium ulcerans. Despite its rarity, it is the third most common mycobacterial disease after tuberculosis and leprosy.
It is mostly found in rural areas of West and Central Africa, but cases have also been reported in about 30 countries around the world.
It is a chronic infection that affects the skin and soft tissues, causing ulcers that can be large, deep, and destructive. The disease can also affect bones and joints and can lead to permanent disability if not treated early. The first signs of Buruli ulcer are painless nodules or lumps on the skin, which gradually enlarge and turn into ulcers. The ulcers can be quite large and deep and may be surrounded by a thick, blackened crust. The disease can also cause swelling of the affected area and may lead to scarring and deformity if not treated early.
The disease is transmitted through contact with contaminated water or soil, and the bacterium enters the body through small cuts or abrasions in the skin.
Diagnosis is based on clinical signs, symptoms, and laboratory tests. Treatment includes a combination of antibiotics and wound care, and in some cases, surgical intervention is required.
Prevention involves reducing exposure to contaminated water or soil, practicing good hygiene, and seeking medical attention early if one suspects they may have the disease. It is important for people living in areas where the disease is prevalent to be aware of the signs and symptoms.
In conclusion, it is important for people living in areas where the disease is prevalent to be aware of the signs and symptoms and to seek medical attention early if they suspect that they may have the disease. Public health efforts are also necessary to control the spread of the disease and prevent long-term disability and scarring. This includes improving access to clean water and sanitation, as well as educating people on how to prevent infection.

WHY STARTUPS FAIL

This article will be focusing on SAAS startups and the reason why most of them fail. SAAS, otherwise known as software as a service, are companies that host an application and make it available to users.
According to statistics, 92% of SAAS startups shut down their operations in three years regardless of funding. Despite the fact that the SAAS startup business is on the increase due to some factors such as cost-friendly, scalability, and easy access to start the business, it still faces some problems in terms of growth and development.
Below are some of the reasons why most startup businesses fail.
One of the major reasons why SAAS startup businesses fail is as a result of insufficient funds/funding. Most startup companies, in the long run, fail because they simply run out of cash. It is important to carefully plan the cash flow volume but once this aspect is neglected or not given enough attention, it’ll have an eminent effect on the available fund.
While speaking on his first tech startup, Zapstream, Devan Sood tried to list out the reasons why the live streaming platform which competed with some other top platforms ended all of a sudden. He said “The combination of dwindling engagement, mismanagement of money, and our inability to fundraise led to a painful and very prompt end to Zapstream. One day, we were growing like crazy and everything was great, a week later the company was forced to shut down because the team couldn’t be paid”
This made it evident that good management of funds is crucial for the growth and development of any SAAS startup.
Also, a poor management team often led to the untimely end of startups. Working alongside the development team, the management team should tend to the task of understanding and controlling the right direction of the business. The right timing for every step to be taken is crucial. For example, hiring employees at the right time. Looking at this same issue from a similar angle, the management team should ensure that the employees are the right candidate or people for the job assigned. A team of developers who understand the value of social networking but rarely use it is not considered a great fit for a product. At least, in any SAAS startup, the product should be designed by those who will also make use of it and this is one of the responsibilities of the management team.
Lastly, lack of user interest or Market needs is also one of the top reasons why SAAS startups fail. Before any startup product is launched or developed, there’s a vital need to know or fully understand the market needs for such products. Carrying out a survey is one of the ways to find out the needs for the product that’s about to be developed. It can be comfortably said that this is the most important factor that determines the growth or failure of a business. Some questions need to be answered before embarking on a SAAS project such as if the customers want the product at the present time if the customer will need the product in two years and the number of customers who need that project.
One of the ways to prevent a SAAS startup from failing is to do enough market research. The above-listed reasons why startups fail can be avoided if enough preparation is done as such will ensure that resources are not wasted.
