Learnova — Learning Management Mobile App

Online learning platforms are either too complex or too passive. Users sign up, lose motivation after the first lesson, and never return. The drop-off isn't a content problem — it's a design and engagement problem.

Design a mobile-first learning management app that makes starting, continuing, and completing courses feel rewarding. The goal was to reduce drop-off by building habit-forming UX into the core experience — not as a feature, but as a design principle.

The hardest problem was balancing content density with motivation. A course platform needs to show a lot of information — lessons, progress, ratings, duration, curriculum — without overwhelming a user who is already trying to find the motivation to learn.

Key decisions I made:

Daily streak mechanic on the home screen to build learning habits and create a reason to return daily

Warm, cream-based colour palette with orange accents — energetic but not aggressive, designed to feel encouraging rather than corporate

Card-based course discovery that makes browsing feel light and explorative

Progress bar visible at every stage — on the home screen, inside the course, and on the lesson player — so users always know where they are

Tab navigation kept to 4 items only: Home, Explore, Courses, Profile — no hidden menus

Course detail page with overview, curriculum, instructor, and reviews tabs
