Starting as a video series, Dave “El Presidente” Portnoy has created a Youtube cult following on Youtube of himself giving “One Bite” pizza reviews that he considers to be made by the common man, for the common man. His loyal viewers and fans wanted a standalone mobile native app where they could find all 450+ of Dave’s reviews complete with videos, scores, and location.
My role as the hired design consultant, I participated in the end-to-end design services. From problem discovery to solution validation, I explored a series of different global architectures and defined an initial scope to begin building the back-end architecture while I worked in parallel developing medium-fidelity wireframes and a final high-fidelity prototype that was used by and signed off from significant stakeholders.
I spent in total about two months in discovery, researching, wireframing, art directing, and handling all design production directly to mobile engineering. Within its first week in the App Store, One Bite App was downloaded over 175,000 times, rocketed to #50 App in the Entire World and #4 in the Food & Drink App Store ranking charts.
