Homeschooling in the United States has experienced significant growth over the past few years. Because the curriculum is self-paced, versus a traditional school's regimented schedule, homeschool children often desire extracurricular activities to enhance their free time and fulfill their socialization needs.

Homeschool Perks (hsperks.com) provides a comprehensive listing of local activities for homeschool families. Due to the non-traditional schedule of homeschooling, local businesses may offer perks to homeschool families to boost attendance during typically slower business hours.

Working with the other founders of Homeschool Perks, we brainstormed on how we could pair the demand - homeschool families looking for friendly local events, with the supply - local organizations looking to attract more customers during typical slow business hours.

The solution? Hsperks.com, a unique event listing service that caters to homeschool families and the local organizations to serve them.

In addition to providing a comprehensive listing of local entertainment options, we then partnered with Homeschool Learning Organizations to provide a directory of co-ops, tutors, academic, extracurricular educators local to the homeschoolers.

As the popularity of of hsperks.com grew, so did the number of event listings - a great problem to have. In order for our local organizations to stand out from the crowd, we integrated Event Boosting, the ability for event organizers to pay a reasonable monthly fee to highlight their event at the top of the free listings. While free listings are at the core of Homeschool Perks, Event Boosting allows businesses to decide what events to call out for the most exposure to homeschool families.

As we continue to look for new opportunities to enhance hsperks.com to bring more value to homeschool families, we are evaluating the addition of Homeschool Services. Once again, the unique schedule of homeschooling dictates that at least one adult is typically home during the week when many other households are empty. Service industries requiring a human touchpoint are often forced to work off hours and on weekends due to scheduling conflicts with traditional working families. By posting services, with unique benefits to homeschool families, hsperks.com can once again bridge the supply and demand gap benefiting both the family and the businesses that support them.

Hsperks.com / Hsperks.net is a .Net8 Blazor Server / Wasm web application driven by Microsoft Azure Functions, CosmosDB, and Blob Storage. Promoters can purchase Event Boosting seamlessly with the Stripe API payment integration.
