About Export & Count Jira Plugin

Export and Count Plugin is a Jira plugin designed to assist Project Managers and Scrum Masters in conducting site counts on their Jira instances. It has two significant features: Site Count and Projects.

I led the UX research and strategy for improving navigation and usability on the Export and Count Plugin. I reduced the number of steps users had to take to access key project details, export, and clone projects.

Challenge

The stakeholders expressed a need for a redesign as the existing interface was confusing and not user-friendly. They also noted that the plugin did not convey its value proposition, leading to low conversion.

As the Product Design Lead, I was responsible for the end-to-end design strategy, improving internal processes, and testing the new proposed design.

Goal

My main goal for the redesign was to ensure the new design was user-friendly and that users could easily see the site counts, available projects, and project details. Additionally, I wanted the new UI to maintain minimalism and clarity.

Learnings & Key Takeaways

The Export and Count Plugin marked my first full journey designing and successfully launching a Jira plugin. This project evolved into more than just a redesign; it became a learning process for me.

I learned how to navigate trade-offs better, make smart design decisions with limited resources, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.
