An artist identity built around individuality, sound and storytelling.

THE CREATIVE BRIEF

An electronic press kit is often the first introduction an artist makes to the people who can shape their career. Beyond presenting the necessary information, it needs to communicate who they are, what they sound like and why their work deserves attention.
For BLUEE, a Zambian-born, Johannesburg-raised rapper, singer, songwriter and producer, the objective was to develop an EPK that reflected the fluidity of his musical identity while remaining functional for media, promoters and industry professionals.
His sound moves between hip-hop, R&B, alternative music, indie and Afrobeats, resisting easy categorisation. The challenge was to translate that same individuality into a visual language that felt authentic rather than formulaic.

THE CREATIVE APPROACH

The direction was informed by BLUEE's personality: expressive, playful, confident and unapologetically himself.
Rather than adopting the overly polished aesthetic often associated with traditional artist press kits, I developed an editorial approach that allowed his character to take centre stage.
Photography became a defining part of the visual storytelling. Cut-out portraits, expressive compositions and layered imagery create a sense of movement and personality, capturing different sides of the artist without forcing them into a singular visual identity.

EDITORIAL DESIGN & VISUAL IDENTITY

The design system balances bold typography with a deliberately restrained colour palette.
A muted blue-grey establishes visual consistency throughout the EPK, while white textured backgrounds introduce softness and give the compositions room to breathe. Condensed, oversized typography creates impact and hierarchy, allowing the document to retain the energy of a music editorial while remaining easy to navigate.
The interplay between typography and photography was particularly important. Large-scale headings, unconventional portrait placements and varied compositions create visual rhythm across the pages.
The result is a design that feels expressive without compromising the clarity expected of a professional media kit.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE & STORYTELLING

The EPK follows a considered editorial sequence, introducing BLUEE as both an individual and a recording artist.
It opens with his identity and personal background before moving into his musical influences, career highlights and catalogue. His radio appearances, performances and industry collaborations provide context for his growing career, while the discography offers an accessible overview of his recorded work.
The final sections bring together his digital platforms and contact information, ensuring that the EPK serves a practical purpose beyond its visual presentation.
Each page was designed to contribute to a larger narrative, allowing the reader to move naturally from discovering the artist to exploring his work and connecting with him.

THE CREATIVE OUTCOME

The completed EPK brings together BLUEE's personal story, musical identity and professional credentials within a cohesive seven-page editorial design.
More than a collection of biographical details, it functions as an extension of his artistic identity, creating a recognisable visual introduction for press, promoters, collaborators and potential industry partners.
The project demonstrates how editorial design and creative direction can support artist development, helping emerging talent communicate their story with the same individuality that defines their music.
