The Process

These articles are the most fun to write because I sit in the creative driver's seat. That means I get to decide the direction of the piece, layout, structure, and more.

The challenge here was to condense a blog post into an article with a tight word count while still conveying all my original ideas.

My original idea came from a desire to see more positive light shed on Gen Z, as my generation (Millenials) finds it easier to demean the younger generation. But with my unique experience, I've come to understand that Gen Z is a powerful, creative group of individuals with valuable skills the workforce can benefit from.

I published the original piece several months ago but was approached in February 2023 by an editor at Insider to discuss repurposing it as an article.

We discussed the formatting and structure, which I had to change so that it would fit within the publication's requirements.

But while changing up the piece, I was able to add in more of my own research and perspectives which made the article much stronger than its original incarnation.
