Largest Group of Sri Lankan Nurses Arrive in Singapore...

A group of 100 Sri Lankan nurses arrived at Changi Airport to serve in public hospitals in Singapore as part of an ongoing collaboration with the Singapore Government. Officials from the Sri Lanka High Commission welcomed and received the nursing professionals at the airport.

The collaboration, between Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Health Holdings Singapore, allows nurses from Sri Lanka to serve in the Singapore healthcare system for two years. The Singapore Government provides round-trip air tickets and accommodation free of charge, along with a one-time relocation allowance of SGD 1,000 for each nurse. This comprehensive support package aims to ensure the well-being and success of foreign healthcare professionals.

This batch of nurses is the largest group to be deployed to Singapore simultaneously, with over 420 nurses deployed under this project so far. The initiative, coordinated by Mr. Nipuna Tibbutumunuwa, Counsellor (Employment & Labour Welfare) of the Sri Lanka High Commission, has been a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Labour & Foreign Employment and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE).
