Molecule — MCP Server Launch Video

Overview
Molecule is a Houston-based energy trading and risk management (ETRM) platform for power and renewables. It became the first in its category to ship a native MCP server, which lets traders connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot directly to their trading data and ask questions in plain language.
The feature was already getting attention, but Molecule's in-house team didn't have the bandwidth to show it off properly. They reviewed proposals from several agencies and freelancers and chose Kaleo because their CEO and in-house designer both connected most with our work and aesthetic.
We created a two-minute evergreen product video, plus social cutdowns, a watermarked version, and a subtitle-ready edit for LinkedIn, the website, email and a looping trade show screen.

Her register is right. Her pace is right, she's serious, the tone, you nailed it. I love this kind of production. You guys are great. — Tim Binnington, Molecule

The challenge
A design-led brand in a legacy category. Molecule competes against aging ETRM platforms and sets itself apart with modern UX. The video had to feel premium and bold rather than generic or corporate.
Evergreen, not an announcement. The piece needed to keep working long after launch, so we built it around trader problems and outcomes instead of "new feature" news.
A niche, expert audience. Energy traders notice right away when someone gets P&L or ETRM wrong. Accuracy was part of the credibility.
No design files. The product UI had been built directly in code, so there was no Figma file to animate from.

"I love it. I think you did a great job really incorporating Molecule's look and feel." — Megan Hogle, Marketing Lead, Molecule

Our approach
We began with a full storyboard so structure, screens and shots were approved before any animation started. After that, it was straight production.
The visual system came directly from Molecule's brand book:
Color as narrative. Brand red and black whenever the video talks about Molecule, and light backgrounds whenever it talks about AI tools.
The red dot. A single dot turns into the Molecule icon, the icon expands into the platform UI, and the dot keeps moving through the whole film as a connecting thread.
Problem to solution. The film opens with traders' daily questions shown as on-screen text ("What's driving my P&L?"), moves to "Not anymore," and then leads into the reveal, trust points, a live-style demo inside Claude, and a close where every AI logo folds back into the Molecule mark.
We also tightened the script by moving repeated lines out of the narration and letting the team interviews carry them.

Solving problems along the way
Rebuilding the UI by hand. With no source files available, we recreated Molecule's interface as editable motion graphics and had their team check it for accuracy. This gave us full control over transitions and dynamic UI animation, instead of relying on flat screen recordings.
Reworking the testimonials. The team-recorded footage came in late and uneven. We kept the voices, dropped the talking heads, and laid the audio over color-graded stock footage and dashboard visuals, with name cards and pull quotes. The film works on its own even with the sound off.
Finding the right voice. We went through several casting rounds, moving from a corporate male read to a mature, confident female voice. We tuned the pace and fixed pronunciation of P&L, ETRM and "read only." The direction was to sound like a business meeting about making money, not a safety briefing.
Handling new feedback smoothly. When a new stakeholder joined at the full-draft stage, we worked through his notes on the spot. For the logo watermark debate, we delivered both versions instead of arguing, and turned the brand-consistency fixes into a checklist. He went from first viewing to sign-off on the voice and polish in under two weeks.
