IoT Solution: Real-Time Parking Space Tracking

Project Overview:This project was an internal initiative designed to showcase Altran's capabilities in delivering cutting-edge IoT solutions to its clients. The focus was on developing a prototype to demonstrate the practical applications of IoT technology, specifically using sensors on streets for real-time tracking of parking spaces. This involved extensive research into IoT technologies and the development of a working prototype to illustrate how these solutions can be implemented effectively.

My Role:My contributions to this project were multifaceted, encompassing research, development, and demonstration:

• Research: Conducted thorough research on IoT technologies and their applications in urban planning and management, with a focus on real-time data collection and analysis.
• Development of Prototype: Developed a prototype using Python, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, JavaScript, and the OpenCV computer vision library. This prototype utilized street-mounted sensors to detect available parking spaces and relay this information in real time.
• Integration and Testing: Integrated various technologies to ensure seamless communication between the sensors, the data processing unit, and the user interface. Conducted rigorous testing to validate the prototype's functionality and reliability.

Impact of my Work: This project not only showcased the potential of real-time parking space tracking but also served as a tangible example of how IoT can be applied to solve practical urban challenges. The prototype has laid the groundwork for further exploration and implementation of IoT solutions within Altran and its offerings to clients.
