Driving Assistant: Speech-to-Text Development for BMW AG in Munich.
Project Overview:This project was undertaken at the prestigious Forschung und Innovation Zentrum of BMW in Munich, where I was part of a dedicated team tasked with enhancing the driving assistant features through advanced speech-to-text functionality. Our goal was to improve user interaction by enabling the system to understand and process commands in over 35 languages.
My Role:I began as a key contributor to the development team, focusing on the creation of internal testing tools and the enhancement of the driving assistant's speech-to-text capabilities. My responsibilities included:
Development of Testing Tools: Crafting specialized web based tools to facilitate efficient and thorough testing of the software, ensuring its performance and reliability.
Speech-to-Text Development: Leading efforts to refine speech recognition features, optimizing for speed, accuracy, and multilingual support.
Team Leadership: After demonstrating significant expertise and leadership, I was entrusted with leading the team of four talented developers. In this role, I steered the project's direction, managed workflows, and ensured that our deliverables met the high standards expected by BMW.
Impact: As a team we successfully enhanced the BMW driving assistant system, particularly in terms of its speech-to-text functionality. This breakthrough significantly improved the system's accessibility and user-friendliness, offering a seamless experience to users worldwide. The internal testing tools we developed also contributed to more streamlined testing processes, facilitating quicker iterations and higher quality outputs.
