The comprehension of victim blaming has dated back to hundreds of years ago, however, the detrimental and long-lasting effects of it has merely been meticulously scrutinized and investigated.
Here are some information to understand why victim blaming an inexcusable crime:
Defination: Victim blaming is a devaluing act that occurs when the victim(s) of a crime or an accident is held responsible - in whole or in part - for the crimes that have been committed against them
What causes: Theoretically speaking, victim blaming is a self-protective technique used by many when they victim blame to try and keep themselves safe.
Effects: Being blamed for traumatic experiences can lead to mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety or PTSD. Moreover, it can result in psychological damages or worse, the increasing tendency of suicide.
