In the collaboration with Comvertic AB, we tailored the Shopify platform to handle specific requirements for international businesses. One major challenge was implementing robust multilingual support across multiple stores. This involved not only translating content but ensuring seamless synchronization across all regions, while keeping the store structure scalable for future expansions into other languages and markets. We used a combination of Shopify’s native translation features and custom solutions to address region-specific needs, such as currency formatting, local shipping rules, and tax regulations.
The custom product configurator was another standout feature. We built it from scratch, allowing customers to modify product attributes—like size, color, and materials—while dynamically updating pricing and availability in real-time. This configurator was tightly integrated with the inventory management system, ensuring accurate stock levels and allowing the store to handle complex product variations.
Advanced filtering was a key focus for improving product discovery. We designed a filtering system that allowed users to narrow down product searches by multiple criteria, such as price range, product category, and customer reviews, all with high performance even with large product catalogs. This enhanced the user experience, particularly for B2B customers who needed to find products quickly and efficiently.
For the B2B functionalities, we implemented tiered pricing and bulk purchasing options. This included creating different customer groups, each with access to its own special pricing and discounts. We also added features like bulk order forms and quick reorder options, making it easier for business clients to make repeat purchases.
To further improve the conversion rate, we focused on streamlining the checkout process. We reduced the number of steps, integrated with multiple payment gateways, and incorporated features like saved shipping information for returning customers. We also built an abandoned cart recovery system, sending automated follow-up emails with personalized discount offers to encourage customers to complete their purchases. These efforts significantly reduced cart abandonment and boosted the overall store conversion rates.
