Illustrative portfolio sample. Northstar Services is a fictional organisation, and all records and operating assumptions are synthetic.
This sample shows how I would turn HR and payroll rules into a workflow with clear ownership, evidence and handoffs. The fictional context is a 120-person organisation operating two shifts and monthly payroll. The scope covers leave requests, missed-punch corrections, attendance reconciliation and the payroll handoff.
A six-state workflow moves from submission and approval through HR reconciliation, payroll readiness and period lock. Each stage names an accountable role and the information needed to proceed. Rejection is an explicit exit, while late corrections enter a linked adjustment process rather than silently changing a locked export.
The requirements baseline covers valid dates, leave balances, separation of duties, attendance evidence, payroll cutoff and duplicate absence treatment. Six acceptance criteria make the proposed behaviour reviewable. A discovery checklist identifies the policies, calendars, reporting rules, payroll specifications and retention requirements that must be confirmed before implementation.
This is process and requirements design, not a deployed system or measured client outcome. It demonstrates how I structure operational ambiguity into a practical starting point for stakeholder review and user acceptance testing.
