MediCare Pro: a modern, HIPAA-compliant patient workspace for primary care.
MediCare Pro is a custom patient management SaaS for primary care groups: scheduling, charting, telehealth, billing, and patient comms in one HIPAA-compliant workspace. It's the system the staff actually wants to log into every morning.
The Challenge
A multi-location primary care group was running on a 12-year-old EHR plus a separate scheduling tool, a telehealth point solution, and a clearinghouse portal. Front-desk staff were retyping the same patient data four times. Claims errors were costing the practice an estimated $40K/year in delayed reimbursements.
What I Built
A unified patient dashboard with appointments, vitals, history, and insurance. One click to start a visit (in-person or telehealth).
Smart intake: tablet check-in, OCR-scan of insurance cards, and automatic duplicate detection across the 4 prior systems.
Built-in telehealth (WebRTC) with on-screen note-taking and recorded soft-deletes for HIPAA audit.
Claims engine that validates against payer rules before submission and surfaces the top reasons claims would be rejected.
Patient portal with secure messaging, lab results, and self-scheduling.
Backend: Node.js (NestJS) + Postgres + Redis, S3 with object-lock for medical record retention
WebRTC: mediasoup SFU for multi-party telehealth
HIPAA: BAA with AWS, end-to-end audit logging, granular RBAC, encrypted at rest + in transit
Infra: AWS (single-tenant per practice option), CloudFront + WAF, GitHub Actions
Outcome
Front-desk time per patient down from 11 min to 3.5 min.
First-pass claim acceptance up from 87% to 96%.
Telehealth utilization 3x prior benchmark in first 6 months.
