Project Overview

I created The Lorekeeper’s Workshop, a six-week, self-paced worldbuilding course that helps writers develop connected fictional settings and bring those details into their stories. The project brought together a textbook-style workbook, a structured curriculum, lesson scripts, recorded videos, participant resources, and a coordinated marketing campaign.
Developed under Writing with Amanda Lee, the workshop combines practical instruction with an immersive literary theme. Each component supports the same goal: helping writers move from collecting worldbuilding ideas to making purposeful creative decisions.

The Challenge

Worldbuilding can become overwhelming when writers have extensive notes but little direction for applying them. I wanted to create a course that made complex subjects approachable while giving participants space to develop their own worlds.
The materials also needed to work together across different formats. Written explanations, exercises, video lessons, weekly communications, and promotional content needed a consistent voice and a clear learning path.

My Approach

I organized the course around a progression from foundational purpose to story integration. Each week builds on earlier decisions, connecting the physical world to its people, institutions, and extraordinary forces.
I paired explanations with questions and exercises so participants could apply the material to their own projects. Throughout development, I focused on clear language, manageable steps, and a supportive tone that respects different creative processes.

Featured Project Components

Creating the Textbook & Workbook

I wrote and developed a 182-page workbook that combines instructional material, assessments, guided exercises, reflection prompts, and planning tools. Its worldbuilding sections include the Seven Pillars framework, a Worldbuilding Audit, and the Kingdom Builder.
The workbook also provides broader writing-development resources, including continuity tools, revision guidance, and growth planning. Its navy and gold design, themed illustrations, and recurring visual elements give the material a cohesive identity.

Developing the Six-Week Course

I shaped the curriculum into six connected lessons:
Week 1 — Becoming the Architect: Designing a World with Purpose
Week 2 — Raising the Pillars: Building a World That Shapes Its People
Week 3 — The Living Kingdom: Creating Cultures That Feel Alive
Week 4 — The Seats of Power: Building Institutions That Shape Your Story
Week 5 — The Hidden Forces: Defining the Extraordinary
Week 6 — Opening the Gates: Bringing Your World to Life

This sequence guides participants from identifying what their story needs to developing a world they can use on the page.

Writing the Lesson Scripts

I created scripts for all six weekly lessons, translating the course concepts into spoken instruction. The scripts provide a consistent structure for explanations, examples, transitions, and exercise guidance.
Writing for video required attention to pacing and clarity. I developed the lessons to sound supportive and conversational while keeping the learning objectives focused.

Creating & Uploading the Course Videos

I developed recorded video lessons from the scripts and prepared the course uploads for participant access. The recorded format allows learners to revisit explanations and work through exercises at their own pace.
I also organized lesson links and supporting resources for weekly email delivery, connecting the videos with the workbook and each stage of the course.

Creating the Marketing Campaign

I developed promotional messaging and visual assets to introduce the workshop, explain its format, and communicate its value to writers. The campaign included social posts, banners, carousel content, short video promotions, FAQs, and preview messaging.
I adapted the content for different channels while maintaining a consistent voice and visual identity. The messaging addressed practical questions about experience, attendance, materials, and what participants would explore.

Tools & Process

I used Microsoft Word to write and organize the textbook, course materials, and lesson scripts. ChatGPT supported brainstorming, drafting, content organization, and concept imagery, while Clipchamp supported video creation and editing. I used Contra to present the completed project and its supporting portfolio materials.
Throughout the process, I reviewed the content for clarity and consistency across the written lessons, videos, exercises, and marketing campaign.

Outcome

The project resulted in a complete educational offering: a substantial workbook, six-week curriculum, lesson scripts, recorded course content, participant communications, and promotional materials.
This case study demonstrates my ability to develop an idea across multiple formats—from long-form educational writing to spoken lessons and campaign content—while maintaining a clear purpose and cohesive learner experience.
