Burger Panen — Brand Identity, Packaging & Franchise System for a Surabaya Culinary SME

When Burger Panen launched in Surabaya in March 2023, the founders had a simple but ambitious goal: bring real beef patty burgers — at street-food prices — to neighborhoods that had only ever known the mall-priced versions from McDonald's and Burger King. They needed a brand that could do two things at once: feel friendly and affordable to a 10,000-rupiah customer, AND feel professional enough to attract franchise partners ready to invest in their own outlet. I've supported the business from day one. Three years later, the same brand system now runs across burger packaging, mobile booth fabrication, a live website, and listings on every major Indonesian food-delivery platform.

The Challenge

Burger Panen entered a category dominated by two extremes: expensive Western chains (McDonald's, KFC, Burger King) on one side, unbranded street vendors selling sausage-slice "burgers" on the other. The brand needed to claim the middle: real beef patty at street-food prices. But the design challenge went deeper. Burger Panen also sells franchise opportunities — meaning the same brand had to feel approachable to a 10,000-rupiah walk-in customer AND credible to a franchisee considering a full outlet investment. Two audiences. One visual system.
Burger Panen "Pancen Enak" brand identity. The bold burger silhouette delivers product recognition before brand recognition — critical for impulse purchase. The "Pancen Enak" tagline ("really tasty" in Javanese) locates the brand in local street-food culture while remaining readable to non-Javanese customers. Color system: high-saturation yellow and red for street-vendor visibility and appetite stimulation.

The Approach

Three deliberate moves built the dual-audience system. First, the logo prioritizes product recognition over abstract design — a customer 20 meters from a Burger Panen booth sees "burger" before they see the brand name, which matters for impulse traffic. Second, the bright yellow + red color story reads as accessible street food (not premium imported), aligning with the affordability promise. Third, the typography balances bold display weight (for stopping power on outdoor signage) with clean reading hierarchy (for menus, packaging, and franchise documentation). The result: a brand that whispers "affordable" to consumers and signals "credible" to franchise partners.

The final printed packaging is now in daily use at the Surabaya outlet.

From Packaging to Physical Franchise Booth

A franchise brand has to work in three dimensions, not just on screen. I designed Burger Panen's mobile booth as a full vector engineering drawing in CorelDRAW — front elevation, two side elevations, all dimensions specified so any local fabricator in any Indonesian city can build it accurately. Brand placement, menu-board visibility, and customer ordering flow are all built into the structure. This is the deliverable that turns a "logo + menu" into a franchise-ready business: when a new partner signs up, they receive the blueprint to recreate the brand experience anywhere.

The Marketing Kit at Scale

The full kit extends the brand across every touchpoint a franchise partner needs: standing banners for community events, branded business cards for B2B introductions, menu boards organizing 25+ products across 8 variant families (Beef, Chicken, Korean Spicy, Japanese Curry, Egg, Crispy Chicken, Black Pepper Beef, Black Pepper Chicken), and promotional brochures for franchise pitches. Real burger photography — shot at the actual Surabaya outlet — keeps the brand grounded in product authenticity.

One Website, Two Conversion Paths

The website at burgerpanen.click serves both audiences from a single domain. The consumer side showcases the full 25+ burger menu with direct ordering links to GoFood, GrabFood, ShopeeFood, and OPaper. The franchise side (burgerpanen.click/program-kemitraan-burger-panen) presents the "Ingin Panen Cuan Tiap Hari?" — "Want to Profit Every Day?" — investment pitch with the booth design, business model, and partnership terms. Same brand, two conversion paths, both built on WordPress + Elementor for client edit-ability.

The Outcome

Burger Panen has been operating continuously since March 2023, growing from a single Surabaya outlet to delivery presence across all four major Indonesian food platforms, with verified Google Business Profile and active social media across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The brand system handles everything the business needs — from a 10,000-rupiah walk-up burger sale to a franchise partnership pitch — without breaking visual coherence. For me, it's another long-arc client trust: same brand system, three years of continuous operation, real customers leaving real testimonials.
