Visual Identity Design for JackalopeCyber

Their challenge. They had zero visual identity. No logo, no color system — just a name and a desire for a playful jackalope character that didn’t feel like another stiff corporate cybersecurity brand.

Goal for the identity: Create a modern, approachable brand that reflects deep cybersecurity expertise while leaning into a fun, energetic jackalope mascot. Earthy, grounded tones paired with a bright accent (Hex #b39e80 and #00e7ff) became the foundation. JackalopeCyber is a team of seasoned CISOs who specialize in bringing enterprise-level security to small businesses. They tailor programs to real budgets, align with business goals, and grow with clients over time. They’re the opposite of the “vCISO pretenders” out there — this team has lived the role.

I led the full brand identity process from initial sketches to a complete brand guidelines system. That included logo design, color palette, typography, social media usage rules, and clear “do / don’t” standards to help the client keep the identity consistent.

To capture the right tone — playful/ but still credible in the cybersecurity world — I explored moodboards and style directions that balanced humor with professional clarity.

The early phase focused on character exploration: full-body jackalope concepts, simplified head-only marks, and multiple color combinations. From there, I refined the strongest directions and tested how each option performed in both print and digital contexts.

The final palette kept things fun without drifting into “kiddie brand” territory. The warm earth tones anchor the brand in trust, and the bright cyan accent adds the energy the client wanted.
