The composer, drummer, and producer Chaz Chambers just released his new single “Hopeful.”, a positive song totally coherent with these difficult and moving times. The track belongs to the artist’s first album, Coastal, that will be launching in the next few months. After almost four years of incessant work, the production is finally ready to captivate fans of indie, folk and experimental music.
The Atlanta, Georgia artist has been very clear that music is an inseparable part of his life from a young age. Chaz started his artistic career with the drums. This instrument was his first great approach to the world of music, and gave him the opportunity to collaborate with different bands of styles like Rock Metal, Indie Folk, Pop Music, etc. Even his excellent qualities as a percussionist led him to become drummer of the Greatest Show on Earth, also known as Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey´s Circus.
Chambers connection to music has always gone beyond acting. His intense humanist, socialist and revolutionary feelings made composition his primary means of expression. The fight against injustice, racism and social inequality is a constant in his music. Chaz´s artistic premise is to create a social message that helps change human thought towards the formation of a more united, just and humane society.
This positive message is what Chaz Chambers describes through “Hopeful.” The single is the testimony of an oppressed generation, by a society full of prejudice, bad habits, injustice and corruption. Without a doubt, the song is especially connected with the current world crisis situation. The lyrics are evidence of this, especially in phrases like everything is changing, And I know, it’s for the better or the chorus that eagerly screams keeps me Hopeful. Chambers joins the general demand for urgent change for humanity with this song, concentrating helpful expectations on movements such as #BlackLivesMatter.
“Hopeful.” is based on Chaz´s life experiences, and his own perspective of erroneous social behaviors, especially in his home country of the United States. In turn, Chambers used as a starting point the innocence thoughts from childhood, reflecting about how the adult life shows you that happiness is not as easy to obtain –even less to maintain- as it was at that time. The artist portrays melancholy for recovering that naive way of enjoying life as a kid.
Regarding music, “Hopeful.” is a fusion of acoustic and electronic sounds within an evident Indie Folk style. This is a nostalgic pop-ballad with some musical aspects that bring it closer to experimental music. The effects of synthesized voices decorate much of the musical discourse recurring. The unusual harmonic combinations of these electronic sounds and, at times, a crash, simulate the strong clamor of hope that the composer intends to transmit.
Currently the single is available only on YouTube, along with audiovisual material produced and directed by Chaz Chambers himself. The video emphasizes interracial unity and the optimistic message of peace that “Hopeful.” contains. The selection of images is excellent and totally reliable with what the artist wants to communicate.
“Hopeful” will be released soon on other music platforms such as Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, iTunes, BandCamp, etc., along with the rest of the Coastal album.
This artist still has a lot to say. Stay tuned for future release dates. If you are interested in Chaz´s music, you can find other material from the Coastal album on his at chazchambers.com.
