This is an ongoing project as well as my first attempt at a designing and developing a site using Framer. While initially done on Figma, I wanted to update and improve it, deciding that it was finally time to sit down and learn Framer. Until I'm satisfied with both the design and development aspects of the site, it will remain an ongoing project.

The Cafe Commely project began as an idea for a cafe that I wished existed. However, with the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent end of 24-hour sit-down establishments as America once knew them, these hopes have since been dashed.

However, a man can dream, and when one dreams, they can manifest.

This side project is that manifestation.

It was conceptualized as a place where students, professionals, and hard working go-getters could come, take a seat, and bury themselves in their work, burning the so-called "midnight oil" if they so chose.

With an emphasis on "focus", there would be no music playing (something I wished was more widespread) and private study rooms for individuals and groups would be open for reservation or walk-ins when available, as well as treats and drinks both caffeinated and not to help boost productivity.

While designing this interface, I tried to balance elegance with a nuance of "practicality" since it was conceptualized as a place where "one can focus on their work." Part of the inspiration for this was Gregory's Coffee. Their website lends itself to being nuanced more towards "practicality" than "elegance" through use of information design, though the latter is still present in other details. For me, this made their site a good reference that has influenced both the conceptualization and design direction of this project.
