Overview

Turned a podcast guest's story of failure into a dark, cinematic teaser. I used AI-made scenes, animated text, and the real interview footage, so viewers feel the story before they press play

The brief

Hamilton & Baker podcast. A short teaser around 48 seconds that gets people interested in the guest's story about failure, losing a $75,000 company, and learning that his ego was the real problem.

The challenge

The only footage was a podcast conversation, a man sitting and talking. The story itself had big moments: an emotional meeting, closing the company, and grieving a failure. None of it was filmed. The risk was a teaser that felt flat, like a talking head with subtitles. The goal was to make people feel the story, using only a few lines from the interview

My role

Story and structure: picked the strongest lines from the interview and built a short arc: the lesson, the meeting, closing the company, the ego, and "I needed to grieve my failure."
AI scenes: used AI to create a character who acts out the guest's story, such as a man alone at night in the rain, a tense boardroom meeting, and a man alone at his desk.
Animated text: designed bold title cards where the key words stand out, like "GRIEVE MY FAILURE" in a red box and "COMPANY" in rough white letters.
Visual ideas: replaced the "o" in "closed" with a padlock, so the word shows its meaning. Made "MEETING" glow yellow on the boardroom table.
Information graphic: built a "FAILURE" board with many small boxes around one big box in the middle, "EGO", so the main idea is clear at a glance.
Colour and mood: dark, rainy, night-time look, with red as the main accent.
Music: Used epidemic sounds for music

Approach

The teaser opens on the lesson and the number, so viewers know right away that this story has stakes.
The AI scenes show what the guest is describing, so viewers see the story, not just hear it.
The real podcast footage stays in the mix, so viewers know this is a real person telling a real story.
Key words are big and coloured (red, yellow), so the message lands even in a quick look.
The "EGO" board puts the guest's biggest point in the middle, with all the other causes around it.
It ends on "I needed to grieve my failure," a line people remember.
