I created EcoG's 5th anniversary cinematic story film, an animated, text-led timeline that takes viewers from the founders' first days in a Detroit accelerator program to scaling EV charging infrastructure, and ends with a celebration of the team
The brief
EcoG's marketing head hired me to make a video for the company's 5th anniversary that tells the whole story, from how it started to where it is today
The challenge
The story had to cover five years, and the material came from different places: interview and demo-day footage in one style, and team photos in another. Cutting them together could easily feel patched. My goal was one film with one voice, one color world, and a clear timeline from start to celebration.
My role
Story structure: built a timeline arc: how it started, the accelerator, what the company is building, what's next, and a team celebration
Animated typography: designed bold text cards that carry the story, with key words scaled up so the main idea reads in a glance
Visual style: dark navy with mint-green text, neon-style icons, and circular photo frames with a matching green border
Blending sources: combined program footage and team photos into one consistent look
Lower thirds: names and titles on interview clips
Approach
It opens with a clear text line that sets the timeline, so viewers know exactly where the story begins.
Key words are much larger than the rest of the sentence, so the message lands even if you only glance at it.
Team photos sit in a circular frame, which makes the film feel personal and warm, not corporate.
One color palette, green on navy, ties every clip together.
The ending turns into a celebration with "high five," because it's an anniversary film.
Tools
I used Premiere Pro for editing and After Effects for motion graphics
Edited EcoG’s startup story, combining interviews and accelerator insights to reveal the courage, strategy and momentum behind its EV charging platform.
