Designing Audease - a platform for educational institution
Audease is an educational administrative platform that helps schools and learning institutions automate and manage administrative operations such as enrollment, attendance, course scheduling, student records, and communication. The platform is built to reduce manual work, improve transparency, and help educators focus on teaching rather than paperwork.
As the only designer at Audease, I led end-to-end design efforts, from research and product definition to UX/UI design and prototyping, working closely with the founding team to shape the product’s vision and usability.
Challenges
Being the sole designer meant balancing UX research, visual design, and design ops responsibilities without a dedicated design team.
Translating complex administrative workflows into intuitive digital flows.
Managing constraints in engineering capacity, requiring creative trade-offs between ideal UX and feasible MVP scope.
Designing for multiple user types (administrators, teachers, students, parents) with different priorities.
Goals
Build a clear and unified user experience for all school operations.
Reduce the time spent on repetitive administrative tasks.
Enable data-driven decisions through well-structured dashboards and analytics.
Establish a consistent and scalable design system that supports future product growth.
What I Worked On
Product Foundations
Designed the core administrative dashboard, including modules for student management, attendance, reporting, and communication.
Created the design system from scratch to ensure visual consistency and speed up development.
Developed responsive layouts for both desktop and mobile experiences.
User Experience Research
Conducted interviews and observational studies with school administrators and teachers to understand real administrative pain points.
Translated insights into user journeys, identifying friction points in daily operations (e.g., enrollment bottlenecks, communication delays, and manual grading).
Feature Design
Automated Attendance Tracking: Designed an interface to simplify logging and reviewing attendance across classes.
Report and Analytics Module: Built data visualization flows for administrators to track performance and compliance.
Communication Portal: Streamlined message exchange between students, teachers, and parents.
Design System & Collaboration
Built a scalable design system using Figma components and design tokens, making it easy for engineering to implement consistent UI patterns.
Collaborated directly with the CTO and engineers to translate designs into production with pixel-perfect accuracy.
Execution
Conducted workflow mapping sessions with the founding team to visualize how schools manage records today.
Used Figma prototypes for rapid iteration and user feedback before development.
Introduced atomic design principles to improve component reusability and reduce interface complexity.
Collaborated closely with developers through design handoff and weekly design reviews.
Outcome
Delivered a functional MVP that successfully automated 60–70% of previously manual administrative workflows.
Achieved a 30% faster onboarding process for new schools (based on early pilot feedback).
Reduced support tickets from administrators by 40% after the UX overhaul.
Built a foundation design system that supported faster feature development and improved UI consistency.
