Designing Stack Wealth: Making Wealth Management Simple and Human
1. Context & Role
Stack Wealth is an AI-driven wealth management platform built to simplify and streamline the way people manage their finances. It empowers users to make better financial decisions by providing personalized recommendations, clear insights, and a unified view of their entire portfolio.
2. The Problem
The financial services space in India is crowded with apps that focus on transactions and tracking, but very few address holistic financial guidance.
Key problems we identified:
Fragmented experience → investments scattered across apps
Lack of clarity → jargon-heavy interfaces
Absence of trust → black-box AI decisions
No guidance → numbers shown, but no “what next”
3. The Goal
Our vision was to create an AI-first wealth management platform that simplifies investing, personalizes strategies, and empowers individuals to grow their wealth with confidence.
4. Process & Challenges
4a) Research & Insights
We interviewed 50+ users across three segments:
Key insights:
Users wanted clarity over complexity
Needed guidance, not just data
Skeptical about trusting AI with money
4b) Challenges, Solutions & Impact
Challenge 1: Building Trust in AI
Challenge: Users were hesitant to trust AI-led recommendations. The “black box” nature of AI created doubts and reduced confidence.

Solution: We implemented explainable AI, which breaks down how each recommendation is generated. Users can see the factors considered — such as risk profile, asset allocation, and market indicators — along with a clear rationale behind the advice. This transparency turned the AI into a partner rather than a mystery engine.
Impact: User trust increased by 70% during testing.
Challenge 2: Overwhelming Jargon
Challenge: Making onboarding more engaging for first-time investors. Heavy use of financial jargon discouraged new users and caused high drop-offs.
Solution: We redesigned onboarding into an interactive, engaging format, replacing jargon with plain-language and real world scenarios.
Challenge 3: Where to Invest? (Core Problem)
General platforms only provide DIY-style recommendations (e.g., “Top 10 funds this week”), which lack personalization. They don’t consider:
A user’s financial goals
Risk appetite
Proper asset allocation across equity, debt, and other instruments
This leaves investors unsure of how to balance risk and returns for their unique situation.
Solution: Holistic Portfolio Creation
Considers current holdings, goals, debt, time horizon, and family commitments. Provides a diversified allocation across Equity, Debt, Gold, and other asset classes. Every recommendation comes with reasoning: “We capped equity at 40% due to your home loan and short-term education goal.”
5. Outcome
We delivered an AI-first wealth management platform that:
Builds Investment Policy Statements (IPS) in minutes
Provides actionable AI insights with reasoning
Consolidates all investments into one view
Uses conversational guidance instead of static charts
